Getting Started with Google Earth Engine and Cloud Computing

Please register for attendance on Eventbrite.Purpose: The purpose of this session is to introduce key concepts of cloud computing and big data analysis using Google Earth Engine (GEE). GEE is a cloud-based platform that enables large-scale processing of satellite imagery to detect changes, map trends, and quantify differences on the Earth’s surface.  GEE provides easy, web-based access to an extensive catalog of satellite imagery and other geospatial data in an analysis-ready format. The data catalogue is paired with scalable compute power backed by Google data centers and flexible APIs that let you seamlessly implement your existing geospatial workflows. This enables cutting-edge, global scale analysis and visualization. GEE significantly supports Time-Series Mapping, Analysis of Different Temporal and Spatial Scaled, Machine Learning applications on the cloud with built in algorithms. Key Takeaways:Acquire basics of Cloud Computing for satellite imagery using Google Earth Engine.Gather knowledge to understand large scale satellite derived Ocean data from local to global scale.Learn about global analysis of surface water, forest loss, land reclamation. rainfall anomaly, human settlement and much more performed using GEE.Discussion around using GEE for commercial market and collaboration.Prerequisites: No coding experience is needed to attend this session, however it is highly suggested that you understand the fundamentals of remote sensing. You could watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAyNu9HbK8s for quick introduction. Please signup for a Google earth Engine account by registering here- https://signup.earthengine.google.com/#!/  if you wish to explore further. Please refer to the FAQ section to know more about GEE- https://earthengine.google.com/faq/
