Meeting NetZero through Geospatial Innovation

Geovation is proud to be a part of the KTN Space & Geospatial Virtual Pavilion for COP26 on 3 November.Join us for a panel discussion and start-up showcase, exploring ways in which we can meet NetZero targets and address challenges of sustainable living in the future today. An excellent expert panel of innovators, policy makers and corporates will address vital questions in how the built environment can reduce emissions by 50% by 2030 in order to meet NetZero targets by 2050. This session will also highlight a selection of start-ups who make helping our planet and supporting sustainable living on it their priority.Register for the pavilion here._____________The built environment is responsible for nearly 40% of global emissions.Of this, 28% is attributed to operational emissions, from energy used to heat, cool and light buildings, and 11% from embodied carbon emissions, found in the material and construction processes across a building’s entire lifecycle. In UK, the built environment sector will need to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030 in order to meet net-zero targets by 2050.This represents an enormous challenge, but also opportunity for new, innovative solutions and ventures. Whether retrofitting existing building stock; minimising whole building lifecycle embodied carbon emissions through choice of materials, methodologies and processes; or re-use of materials. But what are the barriers to achieving those targets? How can they be overcome? How can retrofitting be pragmatically achieved? What can be achieved in new builds now? What needs to happen where to maximise material re-use? What are the regulatory carrots and sticks motivating emissions reductions? How can GeoTech and PropTech data and expertise be applied to, literally, build back better? And who is leading the way?Geovation is exploring these questions and how to address the challenges of the future today with an excellent expert panel of innovators, policy makers and corporates from 14:00 - 15:00.This panel discussion is followed by our start-up showcase. We are proud to present a selection of start-ups who make helping our planet and supporting sustainable living on it their priority. Join us for a round of lightning pitches to explore innovations that drive positive impact at from 15:00 - 16:00.
